Scientists at Northwestern University have provided details on how a synthetic, biomimetic melanin, mimicking the natural melanin in human skin, can be applied topically to injured skin to accelerate wound healing. These effects occur both in the skin itself and systemically in the body, according to scientists, who shared the results in a new paper published on Nov. 2 in Nature npj Regenerative Medicine.
